This is a sampling masterpiece of an album. Liam howlett knows his music because some of the samples are so randomly obscure that even as my knowledge goes as a record collector he has a better knowledge than I’ve ever encountered or heard before. What absolute genius!
George C Scott is IN that scene, but the person reciting the dialogue is Jason Miller (Father Karras)
I knew everything was stolen, but it was sold well!
S'il te plait, pourrais-tu te pencher sur ça? - Senser - Switch. +1 like. travail de qualité. merci.
Damn. Love this. Still have it somewhere on CD. If you like Howlett mixes check out his “Dirtchamber Sessions Volume 1”. Proper wild.
Absolute great work. Thanks 🙏🏻
I like the Chemical Brothers, and have done since they were the Dust Brothers, but I don't think they can hold a candle to The Prodigy
Man this channel is so good! Thank you!!!
@@jussiniemi9560 Thank you very much. Glad you enjoy it.

Dude a Video about mr scruff would be ace! Thx for the breakdowns!
K, that one particular horn sound made the whole NJS music
Magic! I can’t believe Satan is that old, or that Roland have ignored the Jupiter 6 entirely since releasing the thing. Later period but I’m still trying to work out the Way Out sound that starts Middle of Nowhere. It popped up again years later for a single note on Monsters Exist (I think) but just can’t find it. I suspect it’s a Wavestation or Mono/Poly but maybe much more obvious. I asked Paul as he once was kind enough to tell me The Tranquilizer, a track that I love despite it being hidden away on the Times Fly EP, was written on the Wavestation but he did not reveal the secret. Was worth a go but maybe someone else knows? It’ll have been staring me in the face for years I’m sure. The Chime sample does seem to be the Psycho strings pitched down a bit if you bump the sample start marker along just the right amount when the lower strings have come in. I’ve not tried whacking it through effects but without sitting referencing the track so often that I nearly go insane I’d guess just some chorus or ensemble, or even simply deep but fast reverb.
This album, and Portishead's Dummy, were life changing releases at the time.
A bit upsetting to learn my fav anthems were lego-ed together from previous (amazing slept on) artists. But A, you gotta hear it in your head and piece it together B, you gotta add your stuff and bring it all to life, like Liam did ❤ and C - huge thanks, I'm gonna listen to all the original artists now! ❤
@@OleksiiTheAngry Do it, there’s some fantastic artists here to go and explore.
Block rocking beats samples pink floyd let there be more light. I think...
This is making me realize this album is better than I remember. I always thought it was a rushed out follow up to Check Your Head... but some of the stuff here is GOLD
I didn't know the Johnny Watson's version of Looking Back. I know it from John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. Cheers
30 years later still a masterpiece. Liam howlett is a certified genius
It feels like the „Stratus” sample was used by Galliano in „Jus’ Reach” as well…
This whole album is a horror movie, awesome
And all the original artists got paid their royalties? I always wonder what's left for you, when you sample that much. Same with Daft Punk.
I think most artists make their money on the touring and merch so the records are often a lost-leader. I've seen MA live a couple of times and they used live instruments instead of samples for much of it.
Love that, massive thank you for all the work you put in to make these videos, they are awesome.
Nine Inch Nails in "Get Down Make Love" song also sampled "It's More Fun to Compute"
that ending 😆
And the drum sample was also on Mezzanine was also used by The Prodigy… My head went BOOM with the Ultravox and Led Zep ones. Even better than the Blue Lines video…
Top job, as always. ❤
Fantastic! Thank you
Huge as usual. For Massive Attack a sample can be like almost the whole track sometimes.
Another EXCELLENT one mate. Enlightening to see that some samples are almost 50% of the track sometimes. I hope you understand how helpful these videos are to beginner producers for seeing how samples can be used and how much trickery there really is in the music making world. Have a nice weekend!
That Ultravox sample is incredible. Major league brain work on the part of MA.
Crazy Town please..thanks
Porcelain🥰🥰🥰
The band Absurdist also samples this dialogue from American Psycho at the end of their song "Vacant." Here's the specific scene ruclips.net/video/qzC_Ax3-ors/видео.html
I definitely like Massive Attack's sampled songs more than I like Massive Attack 😅
That Fearless Four sample itself samples 'Man Machine' by Kraftwerk
That Billy Cobham album is fire. And the one after it has "heather" which is the sample from "93 til infinity"
Liam is such a master at sampling. Seriously among any of the best hiphop producers.
He sampled fucking Autechre?! Badass.
Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles where Are You???
funfact: Gwen Stefani also used the "Fiddler on The Roof" Interpolation on her "Rich Girl" song
"Safe from harm" is one of my favorites from them after "Angel" and "Risingson"🥰 Thanks! Ps: Jamiroquai edition ib the future?🤔
Why have you put ??? For Rebel Radio?
@@TheAstronomyFloyd error
@@8mu- sounds like a very Prodigyesque thing to do 🤣
nostalgia
Excellent video. I never knew any of this before and I've always loved Blue Lines.
For the next Massive Attack LP, I suspect you can find sampled songs from MA in a couple of FromSoftware games. Check out "Miner's Graveyard" from Kingsfield along with "12 Steps"/"Lament over the howling age" from the Armored Core V OST. Great work as usual man!
🔥
You should do Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow if you haven't already.
Second that!
Haha. It will be 400 minutes long.
Cool Stuff: the johnny guitar watson lyric interpolation The Humpback whale sample....i thought that was guitar
Do you think that humpback whale sound is being used at the beginning of the Fugees How Many Mics track? Sounds pitched up.
@@NevilStephensha ha ha….i thought the exact same thing!!!!
Next can u do public enemy it takes a nation of millions to hold us back
